Everything new in Zip Game: 5 games, multiplayer, challenges and 5 languages
Four new games, real-time multiplayer duels, a weekly challenge, replayable archives and a site in 5 languages. The full rundown of what's new on Zip Game.
From one game to a full puzzle platform
When we first published this article in early August, Zip Game had just received its daily challenge, streaks and leaderboard. A few weeks later, the site has changed scale: it is no longer one game but five logic games gathered in one place, playable solo or in multiplayer, in five languages, with daily and weekly challenges on every one of them.
Everything you enjoyed at the start is still true: rules you learn in a minute, puzzles that get progressively harder, and nothing to install. You open the page, you play.
Here is the full tour of what awaits you, and why each new feature was designed the way it is.
Four new games join Zip
This is the biggest change of the summer. If you enjoy the mental workout of Zip, these four games extend the fun with mechanics that are very different from one another.
Queens is pure deduction: place one crown per row, per column and per colored region, with no two crowns touching, not even diagonally. Every grid has a unique solution you reach through logic alone, never by guessing.
Tango has you fill a grid with suns and moons. Every row and column must contain as many of each, three identical symbols can never line up, and "=" and "x" clues link certain neighboring cells. Easy to understand, fiendish to master.
Pinpoint is a complete change of pace: a game of general knowledge and intuition. Five clues all point to one hidden category and are revealed one by one, from the most obscure to the most obvious. The earlier you guess, the higher your score.
Crossclimb is our word ladder: solve five clues to find five-letter words, then stack them in the right order, each word differing from the next by a single letter.
Every game comes with its own rules page, tips, blog, daily challenge and leaderboard. You can move between all five from the home page or the menu.
Zip, Queens, Tango, Pinpoint and Crossclimb, free and with nothing to install.
See all gamesMultiplayer: challenge a friend or a stranger
Until now, you played alone against the grid. From now on, all five games can also be played as real-time duels.
The format is a race over five rounds: you and your opponent receive exactly the same puzzle at the same moment, and the fastest solver wins the round. Whoever takes the lead across the rounds wins the match. Same grid, same conditions: only speed of thought makes the difference.
There are two ways to find an opponent. The first is the private room: you create a match, send the link to a friend, they click and the game starts. No account is needed to join a room, which makes it the simplest way to challenge a colleague or a friend within a minute. The second is the random opponent: with an account, you enter the queue and the site pairs you with another player on the same game.
The daily challenge, streaks and leaderboard
The heart of the August update is still here, and it has grown: each of the five games now has its own daily challenge. The principle has not changed: every day at midnight, Paris time, a new grid is generated, the same for every player, and you get a single attempt. Your score is saved and there is no replaying to inflate your result: everyone competes under the same conditions.
Completing the challenge several days in a row builds your streak. Miss a day and it resets to zero: the whole point is to keep it alive as long as possible. Playing regularly also unlocks badges: first challenge completed, streaks of 3, 7, 30 and 100 days, then milestones of 10, 50 and 100 completed challenges.
Every challenge also feeds a daily leaderboard, where players are ranked by score, then by time in case of a tie. You instantly see where you stand against the community.
New: the weekly challenge
The daily challenge rewards consistency. The weekly challenge rewards pure performance.
Every Monday, a grid noticeably harder than average goes live on each game. As with the daily challenge, you get a single attempt for the week, and a dedicated weekly leaderboard ranks the participants. It is the meeting point for players who want to measure themselves against the best on a demanding puzzle, without having to play every single day.
Completing your first weekly challenge is also one of the achievements you can unlock on your account.
One hard grid per week, a single attempt, a dedicated leaderboard.
Play this week's challengeArchives: replay past challenges
Just discovered Queens this week and wishing you could catch up on the grids you missed? Now you can. On Queens, Tango, Pinpoint and Crossclimb, an archive page gathers the daily challenges from previous days, and every one of them can be replayed freely.
These archive games are deliberately stakes-free: no saved score, no leaderboard, no effect on your streak. They are there to practice, to discover a game at your own pace, or simply to keep playing once today's challenge is done. Only the current day's grid counts for the leaderboard and your streak, which keeps the competition fair.
Achievements to unlock and results to share
Your account page now includes an Achievements section: eight lasting milestones that unlock as you progress, such as reaching levels 10, 25 then 50 in progression mode, completing 50 then 200 total levels, finishing your first weekly challenge or chaining five of them. Unlike the leaderboard, which resets every day, these achievements tell the story of your journey over time.
And because a good score deserves an audience, a Share my result button now appears at the end of daily and weekly challenges. One click sends your performance to your friends and dares them to beat you on the very same grid.
The site now speaks five languages
Zip Game used to be available in French and English. The site can now also be played in German, Portuguese and Spanish: the pages of all five games, the rules, the tips and the blog articles have been translated, and a language selector in the menu and footer lets you switch at any time.
Since the puzzles are universal, you can even face a multiplayer opponent who uses the site in another language: you will both see the same grid, each in your own interface.
The foundations remain: crafted difficulty and a smart hint
All these new features build on the foundation laid this summer. Every Zip grid has a guaranteed unique solution, difficulty rises level after level, with bigger grids, walls and deliberately winding paths, and an indicator from Easy to Master is shown above every grid.
The hint is still your safety net: if your path strays from the solution, it rolls your line back to the last correct cell and highlights the next correct one. It costs a few points, unless you are a Premium subscriber.
Zip Premium: play ad-free
For the smoothest experience across all five games, the Zip Premium subscription gives you zero ads between levels, free hints with no point penalty, exclusive bonus grids and a Premium badge on your profile.
Three plans are available: monthly, yearly (the best value) and a lifetime option, with no subscription.
