Queens 7x7 grids
Intermediate level · unlimited grids, size locked.
One queen ♛ per row, column and color. None may touch, not even diagonally.
The Queens 7x7 puzzle
The 7x7 Queens grid marks the move to intermediate play. With one more row, column and region than the 6x6, it introduces longer deduction chains: the first queen no longer always appears at once, and you often have to combine several constraints before a cell is forced.
The key technique here is confined-region reasoning. When a color can only sit in a single row or a single column - even without knowing the exact cell - you can already eliminate that row or column for every other region. This indirect deduction cracks grids that looked frozen and quickly becomes your best tool.
The 7x7 rewards discipline: always mark forbidden cells rather than holding them in memory, because across seven rows the eye gets lost fast. Every cross you place is information gained. As always, the solution is unique and fully logical; you never need to guess.
It is also the size many players meet in daily grids: a fine balance between depth and solving time. Once comfortable, move up to the 8x8 for more twisted regions, or drop back to the 6x6 to race the clock. The 7x7 grids are unlimited and free.
