The Queens 8x8 puzzle
The 8x8 Queens grid is the advanced format, the one most daily challenges use. Eight queens across sixty-four cells: the search space explodes, and the regions form long or interlocking shapes that make each deduction less obvious. This is where the game shows its full depth.
On this format, a single technique no longer suffices. You have to alternate: forced cells inside small regions, regions confined to a row or a column, and above all the proof by contradiction. That last method means assuming a queen on a cell, propagating all its eliminations, and checking whether it wipes out an entire row, column or region. If so, the assumption is impossible and the cell is eliminated for sure.
Marking discipline becomes essential at 8x8: without visible crosses, you redo the same reasoning ten times. Advance region by region, secure each queen before moving on, and watch the diagonals, which trap you easily when two queens look compatible but touch at a corner.
